Dr. Joan Bauernfiend, a native of Huntingburg, IN, completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University in Bloomington. She then went on to the IU School of Optometry and graduated in May 2008. After graduation, Dr. Bauernfiend chose to complete a one year residency at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL specializing in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision. Upon completion in July 2009, she has moved back to Southern Indiana and now practices as a Developmental Optometrist. Her experience in working with patients of all ages, including infants, has enabled her to utilize both objective and subjective examination techniques to ensure proper vision development in all of her patients. Dr. Bauernfiend currently resides in Huntingburg with her husband Adam, two children Camille and Canon and little dog Lola.
Dr. Bauernfiend completed the certification process in April 2015 and is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. At the time of board certification, Dr. Bauernfiend joined only six other practicing optometrists in the state of Indiana with the distinction of FCOVD.
